About

Nellie Hovel began her knitting journey when she was 7 years old on a trip to the UK with her parents. She got a small knitting kit to make a red and green striped scarf for her favorite stuffed bear. Her grandmother was an avid knitter and created unique designs in needle point as well. Her mother also dabbled in knitting at times and taught her how to sew. Nellie majored in Visual Arts at Brown University and has since incorporated the creative process into many aspects of her life. For the last 25 years, Nellie has been combining her fine art and fiber arts skills to focus on creating unique knitted hats, scarves, gloves, and occasionally sweaters. She loves using color and texture in different ways to come up with original patterns for her knitted creations.
